SOS Children’s Villages Philippines Awarded a 2022 PayPal Grant to empower women in Family Strengthening

Muntinlupa City, August 12, 2022 – SOS Children’s Villages Philippines, a nongovernment organization dedicated to providing long-term alternative care to neglected and abandoned children, is pleased to announce that PayPal has selected the organization to receive a Community Impact Grant of $20,000 to continue their important work in socially and economically empowering women in our Family Strengthening Program (FSP).

In addition to the grant funds, SOS Children’s Villages Philippines will have access to volunteers, pro bono support and other capacity-building resources. The grant is part of PayPal’s annual Community Impact Program, which enables its employees to nominate organizations in their local communities to receive meaningful monetary grants that help advance their mission and vision.

Our organization believes that every child should grow up with their biological families as much as possible. Apart from providing alternative care to children who can no longer live with their parents, we support struggling families in the communities around our villages through cash assistance, skills training, and community-based programs.

Women play a significant role in caring for children. Through financial assistance and raising awareness of women’s and children’s rights, we empower women in their communities and strengthen their capabilities as parents.

Through their local Community Impact Team, PayPal employees are also encouraged to partner with nonprofits for volunteering, fundraising and other activities. SOS Children’s Villages Philippines looks forward to building its relationship with PayPal moving forward.

"We are thankful to Paypal for choosing SOS Children's Villages Philippines for their Paypal Community Impact Grant. With their support, we can continue providing for children in need by empowering and supporting the women that care for them." -Romil Rayos del Sol, Deputy National Director

About SOS Children’s Villages Philippines

SOS Children’s Villages is a private, non-political, non-government organization that provides a normal family environment to children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care. We provide these children with their basic needs, such as food, education, and health care, along with social, intellectual, physical, personality, and spiritual development. This is to ensure they are empowered individuals from the moment they enter our care until they leave the program.

Moreover, SOS Children’s Villages work in the communities to prevent family breakdowns, which often leads to child neglect or abandonment.

Since 1967, we have been committed to ensuring that each child’s right to a loving home and nurturing family is fulfilled. And today, we have eight villages spread across the Philippines where 1,000 children and young adults are provided care through our SOS Family Care (SFC) Program. About 8,000 more in the communities are supported through our Family Strengthening Program (FSP).
