Muntinlupa City, Philippines (June 22, 2019) – Donors, sponsors, co-workers, SOS children, and friends all gathered to celebrate the 31st anniversary of SOS Children’s Village in Manila. The Thanksgiving night was filled with spectacular song-and-dance presentations and heartwarming company.
SOS Children’s Village Manila, the sixth SOS village
established in the country, opened its doors to orphaned, abandoned, and
neglected children in June 1988. For more than three decades it became the home
for hundreds of children who lost parental care. Currently, 82 children and
youth are being provided education, health care, and food security under its
care.
“Thanks to you – our donors, friends, and sponsors – SOS is
still here for 70 years now, 31 years as for us here in SOS Manila. Without
you, SOS will not be here,” thanked Raymond Rimando, Village Director.
The night of celebration featured performances from the
children, youth, mothers, aunties, and co-workers which they have prepared for
all the guests. They wanted to showcase their talents as a way to thank
everyone who supported them.
The theme of the show, “Tugtog
natin noon, Sayaw natin ngayon”, highlighted songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s,
and 90s and were performed with modern twists and dance crazes. The guests were
delighted by all the presentations and expressed their appreciation with big
rounds of applause throughout the night.
“I really enjoyed it. It’s my first time seeing the kids, and I’ll certainly come back again and continue to help these children. It’s good to see them developing their creativity and talents here in SOS,” one of the donors said.
